Help Us Raise Money to Improve the Going Footbridge!

UPDATE: We are moving forward with our permits at PBOT and have pivoted to use the design with the octopus statue. The far reaching tentacles should help eliminate as much flat space as possible with Oregon grape plants filling in most the extra space under the covered portion. The mural permit is still pending as well. I’m hoping to get an update next week on our progress.

If you can, please donate via Venmo or through other means listed on our new webpage. When you donate, please be sure to add GFC to the notes so that we know to earmark it for this purpose. If you have questions or want to contribute your time to this project, feel free to write Josh via chair@overlookneighborhood.org, who can direct you to the Going Footbridge Coaltion volunteers. Thank you!

Overlook Monthly Ride October 11th!

Friendly reminder that the monthly Overlook ride is coming up this Sunday 10/11, 9:30am. Leaving from Stacks Coffeehouse 10:15am!

The ride is free, family-friendly, and is meant as both a meet and greet with neighbors, and as a get-to-know-your-way around kind of ride! We always keep the ride less than 6 miles/less than 1-hour, and end back at Stacks.

For more information, and to find other awesome bike rides happening around Portland as part of Pedalpalooza, check out shift2bikes.org

Can You Believe It!?!? I-5 South is back OPEN!!!

Update as of Oct. 8: Southbound I-5 in the Rose Quarter and on- and off-ramps in the work zone have reopened, sooner than estimated. Expect occasional ramp and lane closures as we restore lane striping, barriers and other traffic controls to their original configuration.

Please watch out and slow down for crews still working to restore signs, other traffic control and continuing work on the project.

For the latest information on the closure reopening, view our newsletter and tell us how we did by taking our survey.

But wait there's more...
Improved Drainage Work and Periodic Lane Closures on Greeley Starting on Monday, October 12

(Oct. 9, 2026) Contractors working for the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will improve drainage by installing new inlets and piping on N Greeley Avenue between N Interstate Avenue and N Going Street beginning on Monday, Oct. 12. The work will require periodic northbound vehicle lane closures as well as periodic closures of the North Greeley Avenue Multi-Use Path.

As the crew works through the corridor, there will be delays for those traveling through the work zone. During work hours, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., the traveling public is advised to expect delays, travel cautiously, observe all closures, traffic control devices and directions by flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible.

Additional inlets and piping will be installed to direct water away from the periodically flooded roadway and multi-use path. For more info click HERE
